The lead vocal is often the most important single element when recording popular music, representing the heart of the song. At Balladeer Studio, the focus is on capturing vocal recordings that help you tell your story. I chose the name Balladeer, which means “singer of ballads,” to emphasize this focus on vocal-driven songs.

I also record acoustic guitar and piano with attention to clarity and presence.

If you're a singer/songwriter, Balladeer Studio is the recording studio for you.

Working With Me

I aim to make tracks that sound the way you want to hear them, and have fun doing it.

  • Tracking ‒ Enjoy a supportive environment where you can relax and focus on delivering your best performance.
  • Mixing ‒ I'll nail the style and sound you’re looking for, and make sure you’re getting what you want.

Depending on the project, I'll work either on an hourly basis or on a fixed fee per song.

About Balladeer Studio

Balladeer Studio is a small but superbly-equipped recording studio in Bellingham, Washington. I chose the name because the studio caters primarily to singers and songwriters. The word balladeer means "a singer or composer of ballads."

The studio occupies a spacious, high-ceilinged room in my home.

Music Theory

I am developing a proposal to extend and clarify Roman numeral analysis, in this paper: Chord Theory Notation with Roman Numerals. I appreciate feedback.
